This notebook is available with the type of HP glossy piano-black glossy finish, and oldschool hard plastic type. The notebook price ranges from usually around $ 500USD to anywhere in the area of $ 2000USD is a director of technology.

The dv6000t is available at hpshopping.com as CTO (custom to order) notebook, and many retailers as preconfigured models. The ability to customize a notebook is great because there is no need to buy additional hardware that you can not afford or need.

The construction quality of this notebook is great, is solid and robust. LCD hinges give little or no bending, while opening and closing with ease. There is some ripple in the LCD when the top bezel is pressed with some force, but I've seen much worse. The touchpad works well, but the buttons are a little slimmer and feel cheap, but this means nothing if you use an external mouse most of the time. There is a plethora of input connections and output in this book. It's a little strange, but all are on the sides, with the exception of the headphone jack on the front. Most laptops have a tendency to have some ports on the back, making the headphone jack on the front have the right annoying when connecting a stereo or surround them. Possibly one of my favorite features of this notebook is to be in the media card slot. Not many notebooks have integrated media card readers, it is certainly a plus for avid digital photographers.

I think this notebook that are in the midst of a desktop replacement and portable. I would not take this notebook climbing out the window, as some have tried to do with the IBM T40s, but for the everyday person, bringing this to school, work or whatever is pretty easy. Weighing about 6 pounds this is not super easy, but at the same time, is not as heavy as full desktop replacement I've seen. But remember that with a 12-Cell Lithium-Ion battery and AC adapter this notebook are considered somewhere around 8 pounds, it's not fun to wear all day.

Audio :

This laptop is equipped with Altec Lansing stereo speakers located between the bottom of the LCD and one touch buttons. I was very impressed with the quality of sound that these can blast out. When using Cyberlink PowerDVD to boost the volume to get somewhat distorted however. With my older notebooks I found my connection to surround sound speakers a lot more than I do with this model.

Screen :

Probably the most important factor when buying a laptop is having a good screen. If Aore will stare at the thousands of hours, you may also be pleasing to the eye. I received this laptop with an LG Philips 1280x800 WXGA High Definition BrightView Widescreen with no dead pixels. I can easily say that this is the best LCD I've had. The screen has a very strong image and no light leakage whatsoever. Left and right angles are perfect and do not look washed. Vertical angles however sometimes can be washed when viewed from afar. Use the included software lets you customize your LCD, aos color to your liking with the Nvidia configuration tool manager, which I thought was a plus.

Graphics :

I chose the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 series GPU to this notebook. This is the best graphics chip for this model notebook. Seems to work very well for average use and can play most new games at medium-term settings. The 128 MB shared Äúturbocache, is not the AU, AOT slow for this computer at all, and runs Vista Aero very smoothly. Most people considering this notebook seem concerned about having enough graphics power for Vista and I did well. After running Windows Vista Enterprise Edition for about two weeks, I can safely say that was a very nice experience (visually) and there were no quirks with the graphics processor. I had to use modded. Arch Inf as the official Nvidia drivers, AOT yet, but keep running better than I had imagined. Windows Vista seemed to actually run faster than XP Professional even with all the Aero features enabled. Further evidence of good reference point for the Go 7400 is the fear that I play a lot. F.E.A.R. seems to work better with a set at the maximum processor, graphics set to Low, and the screen at 1280x800. It will be played amid graphics settings, but I personally would have preferred a higher resolution.

Processor and Performance :

Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2GHz processor in this notebook is incredibly fast. In fact, the only time they have reached 50% -100% CPU usage while running SuperPi and Seti @ home. My main reason for buying this dual core notebook was to edit and convert audio and video with Adobe Audition and Premier Pro This is really where the dual-core systems seem to shine, this is not an exception. I also chose 2 GB of RAM, which seems to help encoding chug along very well. Intel Speedstep Technology also clocks the processor until it is necessary to save battery life and avoid unnecessary loss of the battery and overheating. Core 2 Duo is a good choice as programmers are starting to create multithreaded programs and with 64-bit computing age horizon.

Input and Output Ports :

Included in this notebook are (3) USB 2.0 ports, 1 IEEE 1394 (FireWire 400), 5-in-1 card reader port, VGA monitor output, S-Video, RJ-45 Ethernet LAN, modem RJ -11 Express Card, IR receiver, Expansion Port 3, (2) headphone / speaker jacks with SPDIF, and a line in port. This notebook unfortunately does not have an HDMI port or a PCMCIA card slot.

Keyboard and Touchpad :

The keyboard is very well presented by 15.4 ". It feels ... Solid! None of the typical high rate Clickity clackity emit sounds of it, which is good. The touchpad, as I said before, is very good buttons. It is sensitive and responds very well. It has a built-in function for scrolling, which is a bonus, however does not always work 100% of the time. touchpad are in order. They feel kind of price and seem to break easily if pressed too hard.

Wireless :

This notebook (3) types of integrated wireless connectivity. The Intel 3945 802.11 a / b / g integrated wireless card Broadcom Bluetooth and infrared RC6 receiver integrated. I have not had any problems with any of the wireless capabilities of the laptop so far, in fact, I am using a Linksys Wireless-and is always connected. My previous notebooks had Broadcom cards and I always looked down connections.

Battery :

I bought a 6 and 12 Cell Lithium-Ion battery when I bought this notebook. The 6-Cell seems to last about 2.5 hours, and when the screen is dimmed considerably almost reach 3 which ended up selling the 12 extra-Cell Lithium-Ion, because I never really used. The 12-Cells' should get around 6 hours, or what are essentially two batteries of 6 cell together.

Pros :

  • Great multitasking
  • Decent Battery Life
  • Comfortable Keyboard
  • Beautifully Designed
  • Cool and Quiet
  • Quality Audio
  • Excellent LCD
  • Media Card Reader

Cons :

  • Max GPU is Go 7400
  • Missing a HDMI Port
  • No PCMCIA Port
  • Fingerprint magnet
  • Way too much Bloatware
  • No Recovery DVDs
  • Easily Scratched

Customer Support :

HP and virtually all other manufacturers of computer companies have sent their customer service department in India. This is not a bad thing because it keeps the prices of electronics down considerably and creates jobs for Indians, but it is sometimes difficult to understand because the representatives of the linguistic or cultural barrier. In general however the HP customer service is very good, provided you do not mind waiting an hour on the phone, and finally talk to someone who knows what they are talking about.

Conclusion :

The dv6000t is a laptop very suitable for all types of people. If you only need a basic laptop to surf the web and write documents, a half game machine or something that just a bunch of data crisis this notebook can do everything, when configured correctly. It is difficult to find things wrong with this handsome and well built laptop, I can not help admiring its zen-type design even while I write this. Overall, I think, is very balanced and priced very well comonentwise. Definitely would recommend it to anyone who needs a powerful machine, but maintains an elegant, futuristic.
