Blackberry problems continued for day 3 and Spread to US

RIM, makers of the BlackBerry smartphone is feverishly working on a three-day global fault end as the issue remained on the third day, and now people in the U.S. have similar problems with their BlackBerry smartphone.

RIM Blackberry owner, the last error is due to an accumulation of e-mails to Europe from Asia and South America.

"It's a backlog problem," RIM Software Vice President David Yach says.

"Clearly we are lagging behind in Europe ... if you can imagine, with the global reach of the BlackBerry and the people who use it to contact others around the world, there are many messages to Europe from Asia and South America.

"At that time the backlog has built and influenced our other systems."

RIM (Research in Motuion) UK CEO Stephen Bates said: "Engineers are working around the clock to the problem." The large backlog of messages must be cleared by Thursday morning on the East Coast.

The blackouts have millions of users without e-mail, web browsing and BlackBerry Messaging (BBM) services.

The reason is probably due to problems with the RIM servers in the United Kingdom data center in Slough.

BlackBerry users around the world began reporting problems with their mobile phones mid-morning on 10 October and 02:42 BST, Blackberry sent Britain a tweet that said: ". Some users experience problems in EMEA"

RIM shares fell modestly on Wednesday. The timing of the service glitch could hardly be worse for RIM and Apple on Wednesday launched a major upgrade to its IOS operating system iMessage, an instant messaging service for users of Apple iPhones, iPods, iPads and some covers. It is a direct competitor to RIM's BlackBerry Messenger or BBM.

RIM service, BlackBerry users to send free SMS messages to other BlackBerry users, the devices, a popular choice among young consumers. This has partly compensated for the losses in the commercial market in North America and Western Europe.

Nokia unveils first Windows phones

Nokia introduced the first two Windows Phone-based devices, the Nokia  Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, at Nokia World in London on Wednesday (Oct. 26).

The upper end 800 Lumia with 3.7inch AMOLED screen, 1.4 GHz processor, 8megapixel Carl Zeiss camera and 16GB embedded memory targeted to compete with the likes of Apple and the iPhone 4S Samsung Galaxy S II, while a 710 Lumia 5megapixel camera and 8 GB built-in memory is more focused on the mid-tier segment. Both phones have a battery 1450MAh.

"This is a sleek, well designed phone, with a best in class camera and it has some strong key selling points," says IDC Francisco Jeronimo of Lumia 800, although he admitted that the phone may have difficulty competing in a market where Android and iOS still dominates.

The Lumia 710, he said, was more of a dark horse in the mid-tier segment with a unit was not expected until the second quarter of 2012 surprised.

"This is the most affordable 1.4-GHz processor unit, a mid-price tier unit with high end specs," he said.

Jeronimo said he felt Nokia had in the past year "a long way to go" and notes that Stephen Elop's reign as CEO and company "180-degree" change in strategy seems to be bearing fruit.

"Stephen Elop joined as CEO of the largest phone maker in the world, a new strategy and a new paradigm for Nokia, executed it and more than exceeded expectations by delivering not just one but two new Windows devices," he said, adding "Nokia looks to what was missing for years, to speed match the pace of the market."

Not all analysts were as impressed as Jeronimo, but Jack Gold of Gold Associates postulate that Nokia had missed a chance at the event, and still had not shown the level of regeneration is needed to run the company.

"I am left with many questions after the announcements. How do the new units in a diverse environment fit in a corporate environment? Where is the company the tools to install, activate and manage safe? What Nokia add value to the top flight Windows Phone? What did they do for Windows Phone platform to improve what Microsoft does? Nokia seemed once again to show that they understand how attractive hardware, but fell short range of services that they could discern market, especially with important business user, "Gold said.

"Samsung is a great Windows phone by HTC. Why would a consumer choose a Nokia device?" he added.

Ironically, Jeronimo counters that they want from Samsung and HTC just may be what Nokia needs to increase sales to help by raising the profile of the Windows operating system, which currently owns only 2 percent of the smartphone market.

IDC estimates that as a result of established brands like Samsung, HTC and LG devices with the push Windows Phone operating system, Microsoft's mobile software needs to grow a market share of 11 percent in 2012 to be seen and perhaps the second largest smartphone operating in 2015 with 20 percent market share, behind Android and iOS forward.

These predictions, but will likely depend on the delivery of Nokia devices in the U.S. market. The Lumia 800 and 710 will apparently only available in selected markets in Europe, with the company the company on a U.S. launch until early next year when LTE stabilizes.

Microsoft's restrictive policy on changing the operating system's user interface can make it difficult for handset manufacturers to offer based on their Windows phone that could make it a hard sell for consumers to distinguish.

"Nokia needs to leverage its expertise in hardware, but differentiation will come from their unique services that other vendors can not easily match," said Jeronimo. Gold, however, says that Nokia still has not shown how it adds value to the standard Microsoft OS and launch of the premium price (420 euros, or around Rs.27, 000 ($ 599) for intervention) is risky in a market where the iPhone 4S will cost the same.

"Nokia is competing against the market leaders in almost the same price. There is no benefit acquired by Nokia in a bid to return to the market at a reasonable price with a premium product," says Gold.

In fact, Nokia has lost significant share in the smartphone segment since 2007 and Jeronimo notes, "It will be much more than just a few Nokia phones to take to bring back."

The new devices launched today, can be a "good first step" in the opinion of Jeronimo and more clearly a sign that Nokia is "culture, reintegration of change and focus on growth."

Review of Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro Android Smartphone

Sony Ericsson as a company undergoes a small change, one would expect their devices to do it well. Unfortunately this is not the case, but never really a general concern for users to take issue with much of the SE equipment with the functionality and style. The same can be said about the recently launched Xperia Pro. Here is a look.

Form Factor
Available in three colors - silver, black and red with a chrome rim and a beautifully smooth slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Xperia Pro receives high scores in the design segment. It has a 3.7-inch LED backlit LCD with capacitive touchscreen (480 x 854 pixels) Mobile Sony Bravia Engine to improve the color, brightness and contrast. All in all, it makes for crystal clear viewing in all lighting conditions. The scratch resistant screen was much more adamant about keeping away scratches compared to the Xperia Arc. Android's return home and menu buttons at the bottom of the screen in the form of three physical buttons that are still soft to the touch for activation.

Have had the ability to handle all three colors, it seems that SE has made a slight faux pas in light and shadows of the keyboard fuse model. Stripped of a sensor to adjust the backlighting of the keys to activate and leave them on when the keyboard is out because of light staining of the handset keys are not clearly visible in bright light. This is not the case with dark designs. If you are versatile enough with QWERTY-style, it does not matter a bit like the keyboard, with some space keys are soft, well distributed, provide quick and comfortable typing.

The lack of a hot swap slot for microSD cards is a bit of a problem, but because SE bundles an 8GB card to find a reason to ever remove the card will be difficult. The USB port is square at the top of the handset (a good thing) with a micro-HDMI port on the right above the camera button (bottom) and the volume rocker. The 3.5 mm handsfree connector on the left side above the power / screen lock key

Xperia Pro is designed for both style statement and a simple but effective use to be and do it with a sense of elegance and class.

Features and Performance
Interface

Runs under the hood of the Xperia Pro is a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor that SE has managed to make very effective use. The UI is super literally fought with apps that will directly open to the slightest touch of a finger or gesture. Screen rotation was calm and was free and so was based gesture control of parts of the UI and Anroid 2.3 aka Gingerbread. It scored well in benchmarks and with a score of 37.5 in a single thread running Linpak and 33.8 in multithreaded run.

Sony Ericsson's custom Android UI, but apparently not well designed to smooth on a wide range of smartphones we've tested. But it was not the case with Xperia Pro. The course as an alternative UI Launcher Pro worked so much better in terms of usability. Timescape is also part of the package, and a new UI widget name, type and send you exactly what it says and even make your post to social networks or e-mail is very convenient. Áðáó File Manager also for folders.

Media
Audio options include EQ presets and an option called xLOUD designed to stimulate production through the internal speakers. But the sound quality is top notch, and the rather comfortable hands-free devices that were identified included the advantage. The tone quality is very well balanced and distortion at maximum volume is vanishingly small but non-existent with a higher end quality earphones. An FM radio is also subject, and while it may not be the best reception in some areas, overall it was a non-issue. Unfortunately, the Xperia Pro codec does not support AVI files, so you need a third player or Mobo Rock Player. This 720p files in almost any video format can be played seamlessly.

At the TV market Google takes another shot

Google Inc. makes an effort to bring its Web-savvy television, hoping for a big new market to exploit consumers, despite the lukewarm response to his original offer.

Internet search engine unveiled a revamped version of its Google TV service on Friday, bringing new features designed to make the product easier to use and more attractive to consumers.

The new 2.0 version of Google TV offers new tools to recommend movies, TV shows and online video to TV viewers, making it easier for software developers to create new programs from the TV screen to create.

"There is great thirst for the use of the Internet in the room," says Google VP of Product Management Mario Queiroz, head of Google TV initiative.

But in a sign of the many challenges that frustrated Google's ambitions for the living and the other tech companies including Apple Inc., described the Google TV Queiroz as a prisoner a "long term commitment."

"I do not know the exact month it will rise," he told Reuters during a demonstration of the new product on Google's Mountain View, California headquarters last week. "I think a lot of progress over the last year and the next year will be a lot more progress."

Google TV - currently comes installed on some Sony Corp. TVs and Logitech International set-top boxes - to consumers online video and Web sites on their TV and access to play with specialized applications such as video games.

Google will not disclose how many users of Google TV, which was launched with great fanfare last year. But some analysts say that version 1.0 of the product has been a flop.

"The fire they never attempted to start, even got a spark," says Forrester Research analyst James McQuivey.

The $ 299 price for the cheapest Google TV set too high, said McQuivey (Logitech has since lowered the price of its product to $ 100). And the fact that many of the television, perhaps sensing a threat to Google's web-based version of their shows blocked and available on Google TV sets created confusion among consumers, he said.

But television is attractive a market for Google to ignore, analysts say.

For Google, 96 percent of its revenues from advertising last year that television is a significant opportunity for expansion. According to research firm IDC, in the American television this year is expected to nearly 70 billion dollars in the market.

With a foothold in the living room can also be important for Google because the boundaries between traditional media and the internet backlash as Google moves to the rich treasure of amateur videos on YouTube instead of helping with professionally produced content.

Other tech giants also recognize TV options, including Microsoft Corp., has taken steps to Xbox console into a general purpose media player.

In the recently published biography of Steve Jobs, says author Walter Isaacson a conversation where the recently deceased Apple co-founder said he was interested in creating an "integrated television sets" that seamlessly connect to the Internet and all of a consumer electronic devices. Until now, analysts say Apple's foray into the television market has been a rare failure for the iPhone maker.

"The reason these companies are all looking at this market is that there are many markets that 200 million plus units a year and has an installed base of one billion plus screens," says IDC analyst Danielle Levitas, referring to the worldwide sales set of television rights. "You can not ignore markets like big on monitors, which are important in terms of hours and delivered media."

MOTOROLA FACTOR
One advantage that Google could have the television market is the planned $ 12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc., a cable TV set-top boxes and mobile phones do.

"If I was Google, the first thing I would do is (Google TV software) in the next round of Motorola set-top boxes, and (on cable providers) says:" We'll give you half-off for these things If Google TV sets in, "said McQuivey of Forrester Research.

Google Queiroz refused to discuss how Motorola could fit into Google TV plans other than to note that Google has said that Motorola plans to run as an independent company after the acquisition closed.

Beginning on Sunday, Google will automatically upgrade the software on existing Google TV Sony devices that are already in consumers' homes, with software updates to Logitech comes shortly after. New Google TV devices from manufacturers like Samsung and Vizio are expected next year.

Google has built a Google TV on the new "Honeycomb" version of its Android operating system. The company has also redesigned the look of Google TV to replace messy, computer-like screen with options with a more minimalist stripe graphic icons that sits at the bottom of the TV screen.

Google's Android Market, the central clearinghouse for smartphone and tablet programs designed to run on Android OS, is now available on Google TV. This means that software developers, smartphone applications, such as Rovio's Angry Birds do could easily versions that run on Google TV offering.

But unlike Internet smartphones, which has become wildly popular in recent years, Web-TV products from Google and other companies face a steep path, as they strive to prove their value to consumers, some analysts say.

"It's an incredibly difficult screen to find out," says IDC's Levitas, noting that unlike smartphones and PCs, television is often watched by more people and have two different experiences - standard TV programs and Web content - must be linked cleverly.

"TV is the last frontier, we crack in the connected experience," said Levitas.

Facebook stops 6,00,000 hacking attempts daily

London: Social networking site Facebook has said that it seems at least 600,000 attempts every day by hackers trying to break into user accounts using stolen usernames and passwords. Facebook has an estimated 800 million users and receives more than one billion logins each day, the Daily Mail said.

The hackers trying to steal user information, spread scams and fraudulent offers or send malicious messages and also trying to sell counterfeit goods to members' friends. Facebook recently announced a guarantee to promote its new "trusted friends" password restoration technique.

Many of the hackers are caught by additional authentication issues, such as asking users to identify friends in photos. "At least 600,000 times a day, we stop a bad guy from getting access to an account, although he guessed, phishing or stolen login and password for an account. It is something we are very proud," spokesman Barry Schnitt Facebook was quoted as saying.

The Google TV Box Without Rooting It will be hacking

Continuation of my potential destruction of Benjy's worth of gear, I pressed "fn" key and left arrow key and the recovery menu. I chose "update will apply from sdcard: / update.zip" with "Enter" key on your keyboard. "OK" button between the arrows did not work. The case went through several boots and setup for a new, revised logo was. My TV was now a large tablet - I had hoped.

Day 1: Install Honeycomb
I have long been of the opinion that the most effective way to get Internet-based content on a TV easily connect a laptop to your flat panel monitor with an HDMI cable. The laptop serves as an oversized remote control. You get a full flash-based web browser, hard drive and keyboard on your TV.

It is not lean-back interface you get with a cable or satellite subscription, but you have an a la carte programming available via web-browser streaming services like YouTube, Hulu, Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) and others.

"Set-top" products out there that a copy of the cable as a lean-back experience with Internet-based streaming services. They include U.S. $ 59 Roku and Boxee D-Link, among others.

However, none of them being ad-supported service Hulu to see - they force you into a $ 7.99 one month Hulu "Plus" service, and none of them a solution that allows you to watch a Slingbox. The Slingbox place-shifting device that allows you to stream individual "roll" a power over the Internet from a TV source to another location.

It looked like it might change. Google came a year ago with a "set top" of Android-based product called "Google TV", which appeared at least one of these problems, it featured a Chrome browser. Hulu is visible through Chrome.

Does this not say that for a couple hundred dollars I could bury a box in my TV stand that would allow me to regain my laptop? Well, the answer was "No", because when Hulu blocked Google's products access to streams, along with CBS and others.

Price Reduction
I've forgotten my Google search and television through the years - came back on my laptop forever tied to television - and two things caught my attention. First cut Logitech, a manufacturer of the device from Google, prices from $ 249 to $ 99, the second, rumors began that the original semi-failed and poorly evaluated software would soon be upgraded to Honeycomb (Android 3.1 - the flagship Android.)

This meant that a possible solution for my laptop claw-back may be paid, and if it was like Honeycomb on a tablet, infinitely customizable - just like a PC.

The hackers
I started researching and discovered a group of developers inhabit a forum and a wiki called "GTVHacker." This band of modders had successfully rooted Logitech box, giving full control of installed programs, and later had stumbled on a leaked early version of the eternally deferred Honeycomb upgrade and was unofficially came to work on the box. Honeycomb on your TV? Was a TV not a huge tablet waiting to happen?

I chose the leaked Honeycomb update route for my efforts, instead of root. The root user pre-Froyo Android 2.1 and requires some soldering on a virgin box - a box that has never been updated. Although I bought a virgin Logitech Revue Google TV box, my last soldering project - on a smartphone GPS chip - the unit always causes overheating. I decided to play safe with my now relatively more discount $ 89 box.

The first thing I did after shopping it was something to connect my TV to the original software. Netflix reportedly worked well, although I try, You Tube and worked well. CBS-owned Clicker app would not let me see the latest CBS 'person of interest. "As I know, Hulu is not.

After about five minutes of messing with this disappointing experience, I have a FAT32 formatted USB drive and loaded with the drained, long known windedly update file. As recommended, I renamed the file "update.zip".

Upgrade
Following the instructions GTVHacker, along with scary disclaimers about bricking the box, no way to go back and so I began to Logitech Revue with connected USB. Waited two seconds and pressed the button "Connect". I leave for boot logo, automatic restart and get back to the logo, at which time, advised by the hackers, I had the "Connect" button. An arrow and a 'roll barbershop "showed up.

Continuation of my potential destruction of Benjy's worth of gear, I pressed "fn" key and left arrow key and the recovery menu. I chose "update will apply from sdcard: / update.zip" with "Enter" key on your keyboard. "OK" button between the arrows did not work. The case went through several boots and setup for a new, revised logo was in that moment I knew that I had a successful update. My TV was now a large tablet - I had hoped.

Stay tuned: The next phase of my plan would be to figure out how to get apps and content on Logitech Revue Google TV box. The leaked Honeycomb 3.1 operating system was now, for all purposes to run a giant honeycomb tablet.

Future iPad Could Have 3D Gesture Controls, Patent Shows

Ever, may not be the only way you control your iPhone. The iPads in the future could be manipulated by 3D gesture, a patent discovered by openly Apple suggests.

A patent application filed by Apple in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office shows that you could cursors, icons, files, lists, text, images, etc. control various hand signals. There are a series of movements that can be applied to these elements as symbols such as check marks or question marks to manipulate letters or preset patterns, a pattern of the user, or combinations of these.

If Apple adds this feature to the iPhone, it means that you would be able to make your tablet from across the room, similar to the way Xbox Kinect works. The patent is called Siri, debuted integrated voice controlled Apple iPhone 4S, but also to the service with 3D movements can make future devices more attractive.

The patent filing also includes video editing and annotation using a gesture-controlled toolbar. It would provide a range of predefined gesture-based commands for beginners, but advanced users can customize their own controls.

Gestures would work through the front-facing camera on the iPhone, which means that it may not be exclusive to a future iPhone. If Apple chooses to feature in a newer version of IOS, it can work with other devices with two cameras, like the iPad iPhone 2 or iPhone 4 or 4S. But apparently Apple noted that older gadgets may not have the processing power to support this technology.

There is no evidence if 3D gestures will be added to the iPhone, but it is widely rumored iPad 3 will debut in March 2012.

Apple originally filed the patent in the second quarter of 2010.

Samsung, based in Suwon, South Korea, has developed into Google Inc. 's Android software to sell its Galaxy smartphones and tablet computers to rise.

Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment after regular business hours. Nam Ki Yung, a Seoul-based Samsung spokesman declined to comment on estimates of the research company.

Following on from Apple’s release of an 11inch version of the MacBook Air, Sony has announced 11.6inch version of its Vaio Y series. Powered by a new AMD E350 Fusion dual core processor, the Vaio Y feels very snappy and it’s fast enough for working in a multitasking environment.

One area where the E350 processor is superior to an Atom is graphics performance. Its on-board graphics chip, which shares system memory, is far quicker at rendering 3D graphics, managing around 12fps in a 3D game.

Though the Vaio Y supports 4GB of RAM, it only comes with the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium, thereby limiting the available space to only 3.5GB of RAM. This may annoy the user, as the operating system can’t be swapped out for a 64-bit version, or Windows 7 Professional for that matter, when ordering.

As a result, users still have to retain the older apps that aren’t 64-bit compatible. One area where the E350 processor scores over Atom is graphics performance. Its on-board graphics chip, which shares system memory, is far quicker at rendering 3D graphics, managing around 12fps in a 3D game. We wouldn’t want to use it for strenuous work in a GPGPU-accelerated program, but it’s also capable of playing 720p high definition video so it’s not without its uses.

Previous AMD laptop and netbook processors have been power hungry, resulting in short battery life, and produced lots of excess heat. The latter lead to laptops with loud cooling fans fruitlessly attempting to reduce lap-scorching temperatures. Thankfully the underside of the Vaio Y never became uncomfortably warm, even when churning through our demanding benchmarks. The fan is always audible though, but never loud enough to be a nuisance and we soon got used to it.

The Vaio Y is heavier than most netbooks and some other ultraportable laptops at 1.44kg, but it’s still very light and easy to carry around. The plastic chassis is a little creakier than we would like, but it feels sturdy enough. All of this would be for naught if the battery doesn’t last for a long time on a single charge, but it lasted six hours and 45 minutes in our light usage web browsing battery test. This is good for such an inexpensive laptop and long enough to last a transatlantic flight.

If the Vaio Y looks familiar, it’s because it’s essentially a smaller version of the larger 13.3inch Vaio Y series laptop which has now been discontinued. That model used ultra low voltage Intel processors and also had the benefit of an ExpressCard slot and a four-pin FireWire 400 port. This 11.6inch version keeps the three USB2 ports, memory card slots, HDMI and VGA ports, Gigabit Ethernet connection and 320GB hard disk. Most people won’t miss the FireWire port, but the ExpressCard slot would’ve been useful for adding a 3G modem since one isn’t built in.

One area where the 11.6 Vaio Y differs from its larger predecessor is that both its keyboard and touchpad are necessarily smaller. The keyboard is still comfortable to type on though since its responsive keys give plenty of feedback when pressed. Only the cursor and shift keys are smaller than we’d expect. The touchpad is large enough and feels smooth and accurate. The touchpad buttons feel great, giving just the right amount of feedback when pressed.

The 11.6inch screen is very bright with good levels of contrast thanks to its glossy finish. The glossy sheen does mean that the screen reflects overhead lights, such as fluorescent strip lighting, easily leading to glare. This can look distracting, but it’s not as bad as other glossy displays we’ve seen.

The 1,366x768 pixel resolution is the same as that found on most 13.3inch screens. It is much easier to use most programs on this screen than it is on the cramped 1,024x600 resolutions of most 10.1inch netbook screens. However, some may find text hard to read compared to using the same resolution on larger 13.3inch screens.

Google may acquire Yahoo

Google has talked to at least two private-equity firms for financing deal to buy Yahoo Inc.'s core business

Google is reportedly in a talk to acquire Yahoo, the internet pioneer through private equity firm.

Google has talked to at least two private-equity firms for financing deal to buy Yahoo Inc.'s core business, said an unnamed source, according to a report by the The Wall Street Journal.

The report has mentioned that the discussion is in a very primary stage and a formal proposal is yet to be decided. It is also not clearly said which private-equity firms Google is in a talk with.

It is predicted that this acquisition might gear up Yahoo to reach a better financial stage as revenue wise Yahoo is not facing a very good time. For the third quarter which ended on Sept. 30, 2011, the company reported to have a 5 percent decline in overall revenue year over year.

Earlier, Microsoft also wanted to buy Yahoo, but finally it could not. According to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, it was good fortune that his company didn't buy Yahoo for a lofty price three years ago.

However, this time, Yahoo's valuation might go lower compared to Microsoft's bid.

Replace your Blogger profile with a Google+ profile

It is the first integration between Google+ and Blogger

In the first integration between the Google+ social networking site and the Blogger blog publishing platform, users will be able to replace their Blogger profiles with their Google+ profiles, the company announced on Monday.

The benefits for Blogger publishers of using the Google+ profile include giving their readers "a more robust and familiar sense of who you are" as well as having their posts surface with an annotation in the search results of their social connections, Google said.

"Plus, bloggers who switch will automatically get access to the Google+ integrations we'll be rolling out in the future," wrote Vardhman Jain, a Google software engineer, in the post.

Of course, since Google+ requires that people use their real name, doing this profile switch may not be a good option for the many bloggers who publish using a pseudonym.

Unifying all Google products
"That's why we've made it completely optional to switch," Jain wrote.

The option to replace a Blogger profile with a Google+ profile is available in Blogger In Draft, the testing site where Blogger publishers can turn on new features before they're generally available to everyone on Blogger.

Google expects the profile replacement option to be ready for all Blogger publishers through the main Blogger site "in the coming weeks."

Google officials, from CEO Larry Page on down, have made it very clear that Google+ isn't meant to be just a stand-alone social networking site, but rather a unifying service that ties Google products together and adds social components to them.

As such, the expectations for Google+ within the company are extremely high already, although it's a fairly new product launched in limited beta in June and to the general public about a month ago. It recently topped 40 million members, according to the company.

New profile will affect online anonymity
However, it's unclear whether the Google+ real names requirement will deter a significant number of users from linking their various Google accounts with Google+ because they may not want their real identity associated with some or all of those services, such as YouTube and Gmail.

For this reason, it will be interesting to see how Blogger publishers respond to this new option of slapping their Google+ "real" identity on the blogs they publish.

It's well known that many bloggers opt to keep their identity hidden for fear of possible consequences from expressing their opinions, such as problems with their employers and political persecution in countries where dissent isn't tolerated.

Google officials have said that they plan to allow for the use of pseudonyms in Google+ at some point, but it's unclear when that will happen and to what extent it will be possible to withhold one's real identity.

At this point, it's not required for users of Google services to have a Google+ account. However, people who do opt to join Google+ must first set up a public Google Profile which, at minimum, must make their real name visible to anyone who views the page.

Sony to turn Sony Ericsson into 100 percent subsidiary

But last month the Chinese authorities have discussed the need for land control popular microblogging sites, known in Chinese as Weibos who are like the American service Twitter.

While micro-blogging sites have received hundreds of millions of Internet users, the places also a hotbed of rumors. August last year, a top Chinese Communist Party official urged Internet companies to stop spreading false information.

By intervening against the latest round of rumors on the net, the authorities have closed several accounts microblogging, according to Xinhua report. The websites that the accounts needed changes. The authorities are also currently looking for the creators of several other rumors, including a female high school student who paid for sex with an officer is found.

"This is the social order of influence, and should be treated under the law. We will not allow the unhealthy trend of rumors spread on the Internet," the company said.

News of the arrests comes as China has been the importance of online social networks, and the influence they can exert on society to understand, says Phelim Kine, a senior researcher with Human Rights Watch in Asia. The lesson was clear when in July, the Chinese Internet users took to micro-blogs of the nation to complain and criticize the authorities handle a high-speed train wreck that killed dozens.

"Rumors can damage the goodness of ordinary Chinese people"
"The government wants to castrate the Weibos. It wants to be able to scare people not sharing information, so think twice about sharing information that may or may not be" sensitive "," Kine said.

Governments have the right to disseminate information that could harm the public to stop, Kine said. But in the case of China's achievements, there is no independent regulatory body set up to determine what information was rumor. "This is a major problem with regard to freedom of expression," he says, adding that the Chinese micro-blogs can ultimately resort to require their users to register their real names.

A number of Chinese Internet users, but said in interviews that they support the government's efforts.

A Chinese microblog user named Chen Zhirong, said that all the online gossip should be stopped and the Internet behind them should be held accountable. "Right now the rumors on the internet and micro-blogs are prevalent before," he said. "For them not to fight and not punish the rumor starters will only encourage the arrogance of the Internet companies' websites."

Another Chinese microblogging users who refused to give his real name, says the authorities should carefully deal with online rumors. "These rumors goodness ordinary Chinese people harm," he said.

Accidentally deleted a file? Ways to get back

It only takes a moment of carelessness to permanently delete important data from your PC. But don't worry, you may still be able to recover most of it, if you stop using your-PC immediately and use data recovery software. When a file is deleted, even from inside the Recycle Bin, it doesn't actually vanish from the hard drive.

Instead, the computer merely changes the file's properties to make it invisible to the user. The file truly gets deleted only when the operating system overwrites fresh data to that space. You can try to recover the deleted files using free software.

MiniTool Power Data Recovery
This is a versatile software. It can not only recover the deleted files, but also help you save data from damaged partitions, pen drives, SD cards and CDs. MiniTool puts the retrieved files in folders, but you will have to go through several folders, Lost Files and Desktop, for example, before you find the actual files you were looking for. Once you have found the files, just click "save files" to get your data back. www.powerdatarecovery.com

Recuva
This lacks the advanced features of Mini-Tool , but one advantage of using Recuva is that you can see a preview before saving the retrieved files. This is handy because the computer often changes the names of deleted files to something like $ABC.MP3. www.piriform.com/recuva

Glary Undelete
In our tests, this was the slowest of the three. But one good feature is its ability to home in on the full name of the deleted files. This makes finding the right files a lot easier.

How to Use TrueCrypt to Encrypt Your Sensitive Documents

Unless you encrypt your files, can outsiders easily access them - even without knowing your Windows password - by starting their own special operating system from a floppy or a bootable USB drive.

If you work with sensitive data - because you are a small company, say, or because you can store personal financial documents on your computer - you should consider encrypting them to protect them from prying eyes and thieves, especially if you hold on a laptop that can easily be stolen or lost.

A handy tool for encryption is TrueCrypt from the TrueCrypt Foundation. This free, open source, you can install a virtual encrypted disks or encrypt the entire drive, including Windows drive.

In this article I will concentrate on describing how the virtual encrypted disks, which allows you to protect sensitive documents without having to encrypt your entire disk to create. For other encryption practical how-to's, click the article number, title listed in the right panel.

When you create a virtual encrypted disk with TrueCrypt do yourself a single encrypted file container you can access or decrypt the password you choose.

Like any other file, the file container will be deleted, moved or copied. But no one can access its content without providing the correct password.

The idea behind the container file corresponds to the idea behind the compressed zip files: You can add other files and folders in the file container, and while it remains closed, it appears as a single file in Windows .. But unlike with. Zip files, you can not just double click the encrypted file container to open and download the files open. With TrueCrypt you have the volume (file container) as a disk to install - and to do so, enter your password.

The file container appears as a drive in Windows, similar to the way C and D drives do, and you will be able to access, modify, delete, and many more files and folders to add in the encrypted file container. If you like try using TrueCrypt, begin to download. If you install, you can use the default settings, the installation is quick and easy.

After opening the application, follow these steps to create the encrypted file container:

First Click Create Volume to begin.

Second Keep it the first choice - Create an encrypted file container - selected and click Next.

Third Keep it the first choice - Standard TrueCrypt volume - selected and click Next.

4th Click Select File, select where the encrypted file container, give it a name and click Save. To continue,           click Next.

5th Unless you have a specific reason not to accept the default encryption options and click Next.

6th Secify the desired size of the encoded file to deliver. Make sure it is big enough for files and documents           you want to protect with room to grow if necessary fit. Enter the desired size and click Next.

7th Enter your preferred encryption / decryption password and click Next.

8th Keep the default volume format settings, but moving the mouse around randomly to any secure                      cryptographic strength and create. Click Format to create the encrypted file container.

To use the encrypted file container, you must mount as a drive. The easiest way to do this is to click on the desired drive letter on main TrueCrypt window, click File to locate and select your file container, and then on the mountain. You will be prompted to encrypt the password you have set when the file container. Enter and click OK, then you can open the encrypted files in Windows using the computer (or My Computer). As with other drives, you can see and access it via the open / save dialog boxes in Windows and other programs.

If you want the file container will be automatically mounted when you log on to Windows, you can add to your favorites.

Samsung Galaxy Note:freedom's just a stylus away

Samsung Galaxy Note

When the Samsung Galaxy Note was unveiled in September, the consumer electronics giant left us with one glaring unanswered question -- is the Galaxy Note a phone or a tablet?

On Tuesday, Samsung made it clear -- the Galaxy Note is a phone. It makes phone calls after all.

But it's also a large phone. Mini-tablet sized you could say, with a 5.3-inch touch screen sitting between a growing sea of 7-inch tablets and Samsung's own upcoming Galaxy Nexus phone that will feature a 4.65-inch display.

Samsung made the disclosure along with a list of specs for the new device posted below a new advertisement on YouTube for the Galaxy Note that shows the phone's stylus -- yes, a stylus -- being used to take notes, draw, capture screen shots and other functions. Samsung calls the stylus the "S Pen." A shout-out goes to the blog PocketNow for first reporting on the new ad.

So far the Galaxy Note has been shown running a modified version of Android Gingerbread. There's no word yet on whether it'll be upgraded to Google's newer Android release, Ice Cream Sandwich, whenever it launches in the U.S., and no word yet on price.

Google email can used by Oracle in patent case - judge

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Oracle Corp may use an internal Google Inc email Google fought to keep under wraps in a high stakes patent case over the Java programming language, a U.S. judge has ruled.

Oracle sued Google last year, alleging the Web search leader's Android mobile operating technology infringes Oracle's Java patents.

In addition to those patent claims, Oracle also leveled copyright infringement claims against Google. Oracle acquired the Java programming language through its purchase of Sun Microsystems in 2010.

Shortly before Oracle filed its lawsuit, a Google engineer drafted an email saying Google needs to negotiate a license for Java.

Google investigated alternatives to Java for Android and concluded "they all suck," the email said. Google sought to prevent Oracle from using the email in its case.

ORACLE

But in an order on Thursday, U.S. District Judge William Alsup ruled that a magistrate judge got it right by finding the email was not protected by the attorney client privilege.

"Google has failed to identify any aspect of the challenged order that was clearly erroneous or contrary to law," Alsup wrote.

Google representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The case in U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, is Oracle America, Inc v. Google Inc, 10-3561.
