Microsoft to create 100 innovation centers in two years
IT giant Microsoft plans to have 100 Microsoft Innovation Centers in the country to settle for the next two years.
The innovation center will serve as "innovation hubs" in selected colleges and institutes of technology, providing incubation and expert hands-on support on Microsoft technology, research and software solutions help students technology experts to create a company statement.
As a first step, the company has signed Memorandum of Understanding with academic institutions in four states to set up 75 such innovation. Microsoft is committed to 100 innovation centers in the country to launch in the next two years, he said.
Innovation will be five lakh students across the country to cover, he said, adding about one lakh students will be certified on Microsoft technologies.
"The program will also support innovation and help to build a product-based software economy, through product development and more than 500 start-ups," he said.
Innovation would work on a hub-and-spoke model. The first 14 innovation proposed to construct in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Khammam, Bapatla, Guntur and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Raipur, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, Tiruchirappalli, Vellore, Coimbatore, Madurai and Salem in Tamil Nadu.

The Microsoft Innovation Centres can play an important role in creating powerful new ideas through education, training and knowledge transfer", Microsoft India, General Manager (DPE), said Joseph Landes.
