Citrix Launches SMB Initiative
Citrix has announced new products, solutions and programs for small and medium sized businesses to help for desktop virtualization. Central to the new company's SMB initiative is the introduction of Citrix VDI-in-a-Box, all-in-one virtual desktop solution, the first release after the acquisition of Kaviza in May 2011. In addition, Citrix announced a new solution combines Citrix VDI-in-a-Box and Citrix GoToManage cloud-based support for managed service providers and IT professionals to remotely monitor and virtual desktop deployments support multiple locations or customer locations.
VDI-in-a-Box provides a high definition user experience with Citrix HDX technology supports more than one billion business and consumer devices via Citrix Receiver software client, and ensures high availability. The design eliminates over 60 percent of traditional businesses VDI infrastructure - including management of servers and shared storage (SAN) - by creating a grid of off-the-shelf servers with Direct Attached Storage for SMB environments.
The company also announced a new channel partner specialization for Citrix Solution Advisor Program, the so-called SME specialists that certifying staff will begin in January 2012.
The initiative includes support for Citrix Ready products from technology partners such as Dell and Wyse provides the hardware and software solutions. The combination of Citrix VDI-in-a-Box 5, Citrix GoToManage, support from a strong ecosystem, Citrix Ready, and a new SMB channel program specialists, all of which helps to extend the benefits of "going virtual" desktop to 10s of 1000s of small and medium businesses worldwide.
The Dell and Citrix VDI-in-a-Box solution, available today from Dell, combines Dell validated server configurations and Citrix VDI-in-a-Box software into easy-to-use reference architectures, helping SMBs adopt desktop virtualization, while addressing implementation complexity and eliminating capital cost barriers. Wyse is offering the industry’s only zero-framework clients for VDI-in-a-Box with special partner promotions.
