Motorola Xoom 2 tablet is thinner, faster with better specs
Motorola plans to release the tablet only in the United Kingdom and Ireland for now
Motorola plans to follow up release to his Xoom Android tablet in November, but only in the United Kingdom and Ireland for now.
The Xoom 2 is the same basic format as the original, with a 10.1-inch widescreen display, and follows a familiar formula for the tablet thinner, lighter and faster. It packs a dual core 1.2 GHz processor with 1 GHz compared to the original Xoom, and it is 10 percent lighter and 33 percent thinner. Other specs are more than 10 hours of battery life, a 5-megapixel camera on the back, a 1.3-megapixel front camera, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB of storage. It will retail at £ 379.99.
Motorola is also launching the Xoom 2 Media Edition, which has a 8.2-inch screen. The other specifications are identical to Xoom 2, with the exception of battery life, which clocks in at over six hours. Tablets with Android 3.2, a variant Honeycomb.
Both tablets have a new design that Motorola claims are easier to maintain. The design looks a bit like the Droid RAZR smartphone with rounded edges, ease into sharper corners, so I wonder if Motorola is trying to come up with some clear aesthetic in order to distinguish its products. Xoom Xoom and 2 2 Media Edition also a fender and Corning Gorilla Glass, and they are both Wi-Fi alone.
Motorola says it has no plans to launch two Xoom in the U.S. as the company focuses on Droid RAZR launch, Business Insider reports. I guess Xoom 2 could show Stateside eventually, but not to count this holiday season.
