Sony launches beta SDK platform for Android and PlayStation Vita



Sony hopes that developers are interested in working on games for PlayStation Vita and Android-based devices, as it launched a beta test Thursday in a new cross-platform SDK.

The company has a beta of the PlayStation Suite SDK (Software Development Kit) for a limited number of developers in the U.S., Britain and Japan. The goal is to SDK ready for an official launch, says Sony.

The resulting game will run on the upcoming PlayStation Vita - a handheld gaming device on sale in December to go to Japan - and PlayStation-certified products from Sony Ericsson's Xperia smartphone and Sony Play Tablet S and P. including the company recently said it plans to expand the program to other manufacturers, and is in discussion with several companies.
