Google confirms IO 2013 dates

                                                   Google confirms IO 2013 dates

Time for us to make our wish list of equipment and software, we would like to get ready.

It might feel like it was just yesterday when Google announced the Nexus 7 on the I / O 2012. Now, 15 to 17 May announced the official dates for the I / O conference in 2013. Time for us to start speculating about the software and devices that are expected to be launched here.

Firstly, with I / O conference this year is the launch pad for Jelly Bean, should be no surprise when Google announced the next major update to the Android OS. In other words, get ready for some Key Lime Pie in 2013.

Not much is known about what we can expect from KLP in terms of features. However, given how Google decided to throw in the 0.2 update to Jellybean, you can count on a large number of new features. What we really want to see is a way for Google to the fragmentation that is plaguing the Android market to tackle. A large number of phones are still on Gingerbread, but that is changing as ICS and Jellybean gain market share, and some are even on older versions of Android.

As for equipment expected to be launched at the conference, we do have some strong suspicions. Expect an update for the Nexus 7 tablet. Given that the original was announced at the 2012 conference, it would not be too far fetched to expect follow-up device. Hopefully this will be a lot more on-board memory and sports better battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected around the same time, and it is very possible that the S4 will be one of the first non-Nexus devices KLP provided. Another device that has been spotted, the Sony LT30i, a relative of the Xperia T, better known as James Bond in Skyfall phone.

The LT30i was spotted on a benchmarking website runs Android 5.0, and is suspected to be joining the Nexus family. Google has never been with Sony for a Nexus device, and the fact that they both LG and Asus welcomed into the family this year, we would like to believe that Sony could be prepared for 2013.

Finally, a vague rumor pulls the Chromebook back into the spotlight for a possible Android Chrome OS convergence. We would like to see happen, along with some development of Google's PC alternative apps. With just six months to go, expect more rumors about I / O as the date gets closer.
