Verizon says 9.8 million activations in Q4
After AT & T puts yesterday to dish out the latest information on the state of affairs, Verizon was beside her good news to share.
Verizon said in an 8-K regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that the 9.8 million smartphone activations seen during the fourth quarter, with a "higher mix of Apple smartphones."
The filing also said the company expects to 2.1 million retail postpaid net additions in the fourth quarter, but the company expects earnings before interest (EBITDA) down to the same quarter a year ago.
Submitting observations to the SEC was a formality after Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam told attendees at CES 2013 this week that his company the fourth quarter was its best ever.
On Tuesday, AT & T said that more than 10 million smartphones activated during the fourth quarter, up from 9.4 million in the same quarter in 2011. AT & T, which a few million shy of Verizon's customers have said that the enormous increase in the number was due to the popularity of iPhones and Android devices.
