Microsoft's YouTube Channel Gets Hijacked and Wiped Clean

Microsoft's official YouTube channel was hijacked on Saturday and all videos are hosted on it was temporarily removed. The hacker replaced them with others claim that Microsoft has a competition.
"We are sponsoring" and "Make us a background of Subbox! Get!" were the titles of two rogue videos released by the perpetrators of the attack. Meanwhile, the channel description changed to read "for Sponsored? Message Word I want."
A message was posted by the alleged hacker is an indication of what might have happened. "I did nothing wrong, I just signed into my account as I did in 2006: / 'he said.
This suggests that the hijacker recorded in the early days of video-sharing website. The bill was claimed by Microsoft, presumably indicating trademark reasons, but retain the original e-mail access.
It is not clear how this happened, but in 2008 began providing YouTube users with the ability to link their Google accounts with their old ones. This action was required earlier this year and maybe something to do with how the previous owner bought access now.
If the user has the email address associated with Google Account, used by Microsoft on YouTube, he would have been able to reset a password. "If true, then it is a colossal error by up YouTube related to other famous brands that have established presence in the video network," warns Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos.
Microsoft can not comment on the method used to hijack their account, but has since recovered and restored control of the deleted videos. Meanwhile, YouTube account to the user who claimed to be responsible terminated for violating guidelines.
This incident comes after Sesame Street's YouTube channel was hijacked and used to show adult videos last week. To avoid becoming victims of such attacks, users must use strong and unique passwords and review their Google accounts to ensure that no unwanted e-mail addresses have access to them.
